Natural Resource Utilisation

Should New Zealand increase extraction and utilisation of it's natural resources?

Successive international shocks have positioned energy security as an increasingly important political issue recently, and whether New Zealand should go further in developing its own oil, gas and mineral resources is now an important point of contention heading into November's election. The current Government is campaigning on its record of ending the 2018 ban on offshore oil and gas exploration and fast-tracking resource projects, and have set a goal of doubling mineral exports by 2035. Opposition leaders are broadly committed to reinstating the ban if they are elected.
