Free Public Transport for Youth
Should public transport be free for everyone under the age of 25?
Making public transport free for everyone under 25 increases accessibility, reduces financial barriers, and encourages sustainable travel. Free buses, trains, and ferries for young people is likely to decrease the overall use of private vehicles, reducing congestion and emissions. At the same time, significant additional funding would be required, which is likely to shift costs onto taxpayers. Busy routes may also experience higher operational pressure as more people come to rely on public transport.
